Following Up on Quotes: Give Them the Opportunity to Say Yes
I hated following up on quotes. It felt pushy, uncomfortable, and completely at odds with my personality—until I stopped treating follow-up as a personality trait and turned it into a system.
In this episode of The Fab Lab Podcast, we break down a simple, repeatable approach to quote follow-up:
- Create a system: Follow-up isn't about hard closes or manipulation. It's about systematically giving a qualified customer the opportunity to say yes.
- Make the first call: The next business day, simply confirm they received the quote you promised to send. It's practical, professional, and low-pressure.
- Determine your sequence: Decide in advance how often you'll call, email, and follow up—and tailor that frequency to your target customer's buying process.
A homeowner and a remodeling contractor don't buy the same way, so your follow-up shouldn't look the same either.
The goal isn't to chase customers. It's to make sure every qualified customer has the opportunity to move forward.
